School Fundraiser

On a good note, the school fund raiser that we did yesterday turned out to go toward our group account, not the medical supplies account. So between the 7 of us, we raised $650. The purpose of the group account is so that anyone who doesnt have the money in the end can have some out of there. It really touched me to see the response of our peers and instructors. The school was strict on allowing us to only fundraise once but we were asked to come back and sell coffee next week during finals! AND one of the women from student services wants to bake cookies for us to sell (knowing that we will be too busy studying!!!) So that is favor right there!

More fundraising.

Well here I am, just about one week away from my first deadline. I am happy to say that I have the 600 dollars I need for the May 1st deadline-and thank you so much to everyone who has been praying and those who have donated!!! I am still waiting for my name change on my passport, hopefully it won't be too much longer. We will be sending out the visa applications soon. We haven't been able to do as much group fundraising as we would have liked due to the content and speed of the nursing class we are taking. In fact, we are going to have our first fundraiser next week at school to help fund the cost of supplies for the trip. It is hard to get together outside of school-especially when we are all either working or active outside of school!

My next deadline is May 22nd. I need the major chunk of money for my trip by that day. As of right now, I need $1,300 for that deadline. I am trying to sell things we don't need and trying to pick up extra shifts but have been having a hard time with that, as it seems like there aren't many available when I'm not in school. Philip is even trying to sell his first banjo...anyone need a banjo???!!! I know that I am supposed to go on this mission trip so I am making the decision not to stress about it and focus on my school work.

We have a meeting scheduled with the nurse who will be going with us, Tambra, for May 11th at 6:30 pm. That meeting is open to any friends and/or family who want more information on what we will be doing on our trip.

I absolutely, positively can not wait! I am so excited to have the opportunity to help save lives in Africa!

If you are interested in sending a tax deductible donation towards my trip:

write my name: Cara Wicker on the memo line of the check
and make the check payable to CHaRA
